In April 2020, Estonian police caught the leader of an international neo-Nazi online organization who operated under the nickname “Commander.” It turned out to be a thirteen-year-old boy. Members of the international theatre ensemble Farm in the Cave got access to the print screens of the conversations that this group led on various platforms. Based on these chats, Farm in the Cave created an art film starring child actors and a physical theatre performance. On this page, you can find the complete archive of chats that Farm in the Cave worked with.

MULTI-MEDIA SHOW

The multi-media production explores the online radicalisation of youth through a physical theatre performance with live music and an art film starring child actors. The performers and musicians on stage uncover the hidden patterns present in our society and the design of our social networks that enable radicalisation to occur in the first place. In the film, we see conversations that used to be secretly led by teenagers in online chat rooms exposed in bright daylight: children are saying them out loud in common everyday situations. The children’s conversations about sex, death, and hatred have a chilling atmosphere that balances on the border of absurdity, humour, and unease.
